We are a locally owned and operated company, The Fallbrook Directory, Inc., which publishes an annual, local telephone directory. We cover, primarily, the communites of Fallbrook, Bonsall, and Rainbow, and serve them and the surrounding area. We distribute the book locally to local homes and businesses each year free of charge to the end user, as the printing costs are supported through our local advertisers. We believe that our book, is simply one of the best advertising values in town. This year, we printed over 42,000 copies and have already distributed the majority of them. We take great care and pride in our work and we think that it shows. Do a side by side comparison of our book to any other around. Look at how white our paper is, how good our pictures (halftones) look, how well the book is put together, and of course, our distribution and actual daily use. Don't take our word for it though- go to any business in town and ask them what they use. Chances are, they'll pull out one of our books: The Fallbrook Directory.
We are located in downtown Fallbrook, on Main Street (414 S. Main, to be exact) across the street from Hunt's Auto parts and the Wayside Cafe, and adjacent to, among others, Fallbrook Propane Gas Co, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Lavender Blue Nails, and Kliker's Hair Designs. If you're new in town and none of that rings a bell, we're about half a block to a block north (on Main street) of: 7-11, The Good Guys (Ace Hardware), Denny's, and the Major Market shopping center, on the right (as you're headed into town going north from Mission). We're here during the day Mon-Fri during regular business hours. We're in the final phases of preparing the book and it will soon be at the printer (see the business cycle below), but if we're not in, leave us a voice mail or e-mail. If you just need books, feel free to stop by, say hi, and grab some. We also have a box outside the building that I keep stocked. Help yourself to whatever you need.
We have been sending our files to our printer in the late-November to early-December timeframe. They typically take the first portion of December to print and bind the books, and we are delivering them in late December and early January, so our customers will have them, in many if not most cases, by the time the new year rolls around. We typically deliver them to the businesses first and then the residences. While we accept new customers year round, May-September is the prime window for doing new ads. Our staff ramps up during this time and many more hours are put in overall. October is for last minute changes/additions, which of course, we discourage (with the interests of everyone's sanity at heart). However, this year, we may be backing things back further so that we can come out with the book sooner and not have to deal with trying to get the books printed over the Christmas holidays. We always have people asking us about getting in the book or making changes at the last minute or after we have gone to press. (One person even asked after the book was already being delivered if it was too late to make changes then...) Please rest assured that no matter how much we may want to assist you with your needs, once the presses are rolling, that's it. So please plan ahead.
The general consensus among those in the know, is that one should allocate approximately 2% of one's business'(es') budget(s) for advertising. Some people end up doing more and some end up with less. Some don't advertise at all. While we are admittedly biased (after all, we want your business!), we think that for most businesses, advertising is key. This is true not only for start-ups, but also for established businesses as well. I don't want to steal all the thunder from the advertising page, but I wanted to give you some figures: This year, we printed over 42,000 copies of our Directory. Even with a full page ad (our most expensive), that still works out to around two cents per copy, which you can hardly do if you were to xerox your ad (and nevermind distributing it to all the homes and businesses in Fallbrook). Doing the math, that works out to over 10,000 square feet of your ad, delivered to everyone's doorstep. We believe (and it is our mission to) that we provide one of the best if not the best advertising value in Fallbrook. We do all our ad design in house, right here on Main Street, and we're flexible enough to meet your needs. Fallbrook is changing, and like it or not, growing larger every year. Many businesses in town (us included) are growing as well. Give us a call and we'll help you get your message out- just like we have for the past 49 years.
